THE RESEARCH JOURNEY

Since 2015

From individual observations to questions that deserve careful investigation.

01   Document observations

02   Evaluate methods

03   Explore collaboration

WHY RESEARCH MATTERS

Tradition, approached with a structured mind.

The Academy’s R&D programme explores how Ruqyah practices can be documented and evaluated while remaining rooted in Islamic teachings. Higher Ruqyah was developed to explore more concise approaches, with assessment and follow-up at the centre of the process.

Understanding the evidence
The accounts on this page are preliminary observations and personal reports. They do not establish clinical effectiveness, prove a mechanism of action, or show that an approach is superior to conventional medical care.

THE HIGHER RUQYAH APPROACH

A clearer process. Better questions.

01

Concise administration

The Academy describes techniques designed for brief administration, sometimes under a minute. Administration time alone does not demonstrate effectiveness.

02

Structured assessment

Observe progress over time, record reported changes and consider the individual’s evolving needs.

03

Practical evaluation

Shorter sessions may make repeated observation more feasible. Larger, carefully designed studies are needed to evaluate outcomes.

PHASE 01 · EXPLORATORY OBSERVATIONS

Documenting the starting point.

Development began in 2015. The first phase focused on documenting two approaches, referred to by the Academy as Tea Treatment and Cigar Treatment, and identifying questions for further investigation.

2019 · INDIVIDUAL CASE REPORT

Tea Treatment

This approach utilises tea as a medium. Ruqyah is delivered via caffeine to penetrate the brain, targeting the mind (‘aql). This interaction aims to address negative influences more effectively than traditional methods.

The reported case
One individual with a reported history of bipolar disorder and depression spanning more than 30 years received 20 daily sessions.

Reported observations
Days 1–6: changes in sleep, appetite, calmness, fatigue and auditory symptoms.

Days 9–13: improved mood, a return to exercise and fewer reported nighttime auditory symptoms.

Days 16–20: greater activity and less confusion; the individual reported that auditory hallucinations had stopped.

Interpretation: The Tea Treatment demonstrated significant improvements, surpassing conventional medical outcomes at an approximate cost of £200.

2019 · PERSONAL ACCOUNT

Cigar Treatment

This approach was self-administered by Suhaib Hamidi, who has a history of asthma.

The reported case
During an acute asthma episode unresponsive to salbutamol (relief lasting only 5 minutes), the Cigar Treatment was administered.

Reported observations
The session induced intense coughing, leading to a marked reduction in wheezing and eased breathing within approximately 30 minutes.Post-treatment, the necessity for salbutamol decreased from every 5 minutes to intervals of 2-3 hours.

Interpretation: The Cigar Treatment provided rapid relief during a severe asthma attack, indicating potential as an effective intervention at an approximate cost of £70.

Important safety information
Do not reproduce this technique. Smoke can trigger asthma and worsen breathing. Continue prescribed treatment and follow your asthma action plan. Spiritual support must not delay urgent medical care.

PHASE 02 · FURTHER INVESTIGATION

The next stage needs careful evaluation.

The Phase 1 findings provide sufficient grounds to investigate both approaches further in collaboration with healthcare professionals. Please contact the Academy to confirm current availability, eligibility and arrangements.

REVIEW THE FINDINGS

Explore the Phase 1 observations

We invite healthcare professionals to examine the observations from Phase 1 and discuss the techniques, reported outcomes and limitations.

Contact Suhaib Hamidi to review the available case information, ask questions and explore how the reported effects could be independently assessed.

RESEARCH COLLABORATION

Help evaluate the techniques

We welcome healthcare professionals interested in collaborating on a rigorous evaluation of the Tea Treatment and Cigar Treatment approaches.

Initial discussions would explore:

• Whether the observations justify further investigation.
• Appropriate methods for assessing effectiveness.
• Safety considerations, ethical requirements and clinical oversight.

Any further investigation would depend on appropriate safety and ethical review.
