Why Learning Ruqyah Is No Longer Optional for Muslim Families
In previous generations, many Muslims only turned to ruqyah when facing severe spiritual problems. Today, the situation is very different. More people are suffering from unexplained illnesses, emotional instability, family breakdowns, spiritual disturbances, and deep inner darkness — even while modern medicine continues to advance.
This is why learning ruqyah has become one of the most important skills a Muslim can develop in our time.
For many families, ruqyah is no longer simply a specialist field for a few practitioners. It is becoming a necessary form of spiritual protection, prevention, and healing for everyday life.
The World Is Becoming Spiritually Darker
As we move closer towards the End Times, the Prophet ﷺ warned that trials, deception, corruption, and evil would increase. Islam teaches that before the appearance of the great Dajjal, there will be many “lesser dajjals” — individuals and systems that spread deception, confusion, arrogance, falsehood, manipulation, and spiritual corruption.
Today, we can already see this increasing rapidly:
- Widespread anxiety and depression
- Family breakdowns
- Obsession with fame, ego, and materialism
- Increased exposure to black magic and occult practices
- Spiritual emptiness despite technological progress
- Children growing up disconnected from Qur’an and dhikr
- Harmful influences spreading instantly through social media
Many Muslims feel spiritually attacked but do not understand what is happening to them.
Some suffer from:
- Constant nightmares
- Sudden hatred between spouses
- Unexplained fear or anger
- Persistent fatigue without medical explanation
- Dark thoughts and emotional heaviness
- Strong reactions when hearing Qur’an
- Repeating cycles of hardship despite every practical effort
Not every problem is caused by spiritual affliction — Islam teaches balance and wisdom — but many people completely ignore the spiritual dimension altogether. Ruqyah helps Muslims reconnect with the reality that the unseen world exists, and that spiritual protection is part of Islamic life.
Modern Medicine Has Limits
Modern medicine is extremely important and beneficial. Muslims should value doctors, hospitals, psychology, therapy, and scientific advancement. However, medicine still has many unknowns.
Why?
Because the modern medical model mainly studies the physical body and brain, while largely ignoring the spiritual nature of the human being.
Islam teaches that humans are not merely biological machines. We have:
- A body
- A mind
- A heart
- A soul (ruh)
- A spiritual state connected to Allah
When the spiritual aspect is neglected, many conditions become difficult to fully understand or treat.
This is why some people:
- Take medication yet still feel spiritually tormented
- Attend therapy but continue experiencing deep darkness
- Receive normal scan results despite severe suffering
- Improve temporarily before symptoms mysteriously return
Again, this does not mean every illness is spiritual. Islam rejects extremism and false assumptions. But it also rejects the idea that humans are purely physical beings. Ruqyah restores balance by acknowledging the spiritual dimension of health.
One Raqi in Every Family Could Change Everything
Imagine if every Muslim family had at least one person properly trained in ruqyah.
Many problems could be identified early before they become severe.
A trained family member could:
- Recite protective Qur’an regularly in the home
- Recognise early warning signs of spiritual harm
- Help family members strengthen their connection with Allah
- Treat minor issues before they escalate
- Protect children spiritually from a young age
- Reduce dependency on outside practitioners
- Create a spiritually stronger household
In many cases, prevention is far more powerful than emergency treatment. The Prophet ﷺ regularly recited protection over himself, his family, and his companions. Ruqyah was not meant to be something strange or hidden away for specialists only. Basic ruqyah and spiritual protection are part of Islamic living. When a family completely lacks spiritual knowledge, they often become vulnerable:
- They panic when problems appear
- They rely entirely on outsiders
- They cannot distinguish spiritual issues from normal life struggles
- They may unknowingly expose themselves to harmful practices
But when at least one family member understands ruqyah correctly according to Qur’an and Sunnah, the entire household becomes spiritually stronger.
Learning Ruqyah Is About Protection — Not Fear
Some people avoid learning ruqyah because they fear the unseen world. But authentic ruqyah should increase a Muslim in:
- Tawakkul (trust in Allah)
- Knowledge
- Confidence
- Emotional stability
- Spiritual awareness
- Connection to the Qur’an
The goal is not obsession with jinn or paranoia.
The goal is to strengthen the believer.
A Muslim who understands ruqyah properly learns:
- How to protect themselves daily
- How to maintain spiritual hygiene
- How to identify dangerous practices
- How to respond calmly to spiritual problems
- How to rely upon Allah correctly
This knowledge becomes even more important as fitnah increases around the world.
The Future Will Require Spiritually Strong Muslims
The challenges facing Muslims today are not only political, economic, or social. Many are deeply spiritual.
Future generations will need:
- Strong iman
- Spiritual resilience
- Qur’anic healing
- Knowledge of protection
- Households connected to Allah
Teaching ruqyah within families may become one of the most valuable forms of protection we can pass on to our children.
The stronger the spiritual foundation of a family, the harder it becomes for darkness to take root within it.
Learn Ruqyah Correctly
Authentic ruqyah must always remain grounded in:
- The Qur’an
- Authentic Sunnah
- Tawheed
- Reliance upon Allah alone
It should never involve:
- Shirk
- Superstition
- Black magic practices
Proper ruqyah is not about becoming mystical. It is about reviving Qur’anic healing, spiritual protection, and closeness to Allah in a structured and beneficial way.
If Muslims do not learn how to protect themselves spiritually, many families will continue suffering unnecessarily while searching for answers everywhere except the Qur’an.
